Uncharted Waters Online
« on: December 26, 2018, 04:42:30 PM »

UWO has just gone to Steam.

The game was sold a while back and everything wiped ..any accounts you had are gone. You will need to start over.

My brother Tom is there and I believe Suraknar and his OSS buddies too. Not sure about any of our LIB friends though.

I just downloaded it and plan on checking it out at least. (I have a second 5 day weekend coming up) Tom said that training has changed and is now a bit easier ...we'll see ;)

Downloaded it. Not sure if I'll get much time to play it. Haven't played the game in years, not since back when the LIB first sailed there.

Don't worry, once you start playing it all comes back ;)

I've been playing the hell out of it the last couple days, and having a lot of fun in the process. I met up with the OSS and joined their company. Suraknar (Jean) is in the Philippines atm and left his buddy DeCoursolle to watch the store. These guys are always willing to help ..too much sometimes ..lol ..he gave me 500k and escorted me through a couple of beginner quests.

The new training system isn't as intuitive as advertised. Basically they just shut down the schools in the starting cities except one class. To start you get prompted to do a little walk around town by some old sailor. Then you get sent to your guild to do a couple quests. After which you're supposed to go to the school to do a quest line there. This is where I got lost as I must have missed the prompt. I created my character with the focus on trading so I assumed I would need to do quests related to that. The trading trainer in London had nothing for me. The wiki was confusing as it explains things from the perspective of a Venetian starting in Venice. There you do the trade class ..as an Englishman you actually talk to the Adventure trainer. It took me a while to figure that out.

After that quest line you get sent to a town called "Sagres" south of Lisbon where the actual training school is. As an Englishman you don't have the permits to even stop in there till the quest line in London is complete. Once there you will find three trainers who have a list of quests to choose from. Those quests are the training. I suppose it's good in that once complete you will have ample skill and fame to dive right in to the rest of the game.

Intermediate and expert classes are still the same I guess. I'm thinking of signing up at their wiki so I can point out only using one starting city as an example is very confusing.

All in all I've had a great time playing. Next time you're in look up myself, (Grecanis) Tom (Olman) or DeCoursolle (<- his moniker) or just go to the company admin in Marseilles, look up the Order of Silver Star and put in an application. (say you're an LIB member) ..I'll let him know this may be coming.
