Title: Free Games!
Post by: Mako on May 21, 2020, 05:45:45 PM
There are some sites that are giving away free games, so figured I'd make a thread to share them in case you guys want to pick any up.

Right now Epic Games (https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/) has Side Meier's Civilization VI for free from now through May 28th.

interesting :)

On the flip side GoG.com has offered up a whole line of Sid's oldies. (and some M&B stuff too)

Nice! I picked up M&B: Bannerlord. It's in early alpha, but still pretty good. Lots of patches and improvements just in the month or so that it's come out. I'd highly recommend it, especially if you can pick it up on a sale.

Every Thursday Epic releases a new game for free. Sometimes more than one. They used to show a week ahead what they'd be, but are keeping them a surprise and giving away bigger name games lately. You just need to sign up with Epic to claim and download them.

Other sites give away games, too, but not every week like Epic has been.

Likewise! Hope you guys are doing well. Such a crazy world out there. Best to hide out at home.

I'm very hit or miss lately. Just like my gaming. lol  Usually check in here once or twice a day, but not much to talk about. Just life keeping me busy, still trying to get this house fixed up.  :)

Three games on Epic for free tomorrow - Killing Floor 2, Lifeless Planet, and The Escapists 2.

I'm really adding a lot to my catalog of games with these. Hopefully someday I'll get around to playing them.  ;D

I've got one for ya, it's called Enderal.

It's a total conversion mod for Skyrim (which you need to own), but it's quite impressive and absolutely free. Available on Steam.

It's a more focused experience than Skyrim. For example, leveling is restricted by how many learning points you have and such.

I had a lot of fun with it, in fact, I might agree with some that say it is actually better than Skyrim if you can believe it. Really an incredible work which they are still updating!

A whole new world. I mean you can tell that it uses Skyrim assets but it's new. I'd say it's maybe 3/4th's the size of Skyrim.

The price is right. :)

Very cool!  :)

I've got Skyrim on Xbox but not PC. Eventually I'll pick it up, so will definitely look into that when I do! Looks great!

Good to see you too, GD!

Speaking of MMO's, a new free to play Star Wars one just appeared on steam.

Star Wars The Old Republic. Never heard of it but just released on Steam though supposedly it's been around for 8+ years elsewhere.

Yep, it has paywalls, but some say that doesn't matter. One guy said he played over 3000 hours without paying!

I'll probably have a look. Nothing to lose. My handle will be Scrogdog as always if you decide to try it.

Be well!

Hey Scrog!

Yeah, The Old Republic was the MMO that they finally ended SWG for. GD used to play it along with several others (Dat? can't remember who all), and I tried it for a little bit a few years ago. Think there's a thread somewhere here about that.

I just added it to my Steam account. Not sure if I still have the game installed on my PC from before. Need to check on that and see if I can switch over. I made a couple of characters, but I remember I used Derkam as a name. I probably added the names I used on the other thread, and it also should have what server we were on.

I'm not gaming much lately. Add me, though, and I'll try to log in when I get a chance. It's a game that's fun for awhile solo, but you really need friends once you reach a certain point or it loses it's uniqueness pretty quickly.

Ugh, and my internet has been very slow recently. Might need to get that fixed before I can do much online anyways.

I have carried a sub at SW:toR since it launched. I still hop in and play once a month or so, occasionally I'll play it till I get burned out again then leave it for a while. Right now I switch between Star Citizen and Shores of Hazeron with a little UWO mixed in ..lol

There is a lot of good content at SW:toR I believe you will like it for the most part. My biggest dislike with it is that it is essentially "on rails" ..there's not a lot of deviation from the story lines. If you use the store once you get some good benefits that carry on whether you buy more or not. It's been so long I can't remember what they are, but I would recommend spending something as it will make progression a little easier and play a little more fun.

You know me, the "altaholic" ..I have character on two servers 58 of them ..lol ..29 on each Satele Shan and Starforge. I have a guild on Satele Shan called "The Aesir" that I inherited when the founder went away and the game gave it to the first member to log in. I waited a while then kicked every one now it's just my brother Steve and I in it.

Thanks for bringing this up ...gave me a chance to patch up ;)

Well I didn't get in yet. Life has gone by in a flurry since my last post.

But... long story short, my brother and I just won the bid for a really nice trailer home. Immaculate property and even neighborhood!

I bid well over the asking price and it was still a dogfight I'm told.

We're excited! I'll let you know when I actually get in. Right now my mind is on getting this baby closed asap. :)

Yes, your old friend is now trailer trash. Have a chuckle on me! lol

That's awesome, Scrog! Congrats!  :)

Still busy trying to get my mom's house fixed up and ready to sell to downsize. After years of talking about it we're finally actually getting things done. My mom hadn't really been for it so was stalling for many years. Just finished the front yard recently, so ready to start the backyard. We still have to go through a lot of stuff that's been collected for many years to get rid of that we won't have room for. Plus between errands, and bad weather (been highs in the upper 90's plus rain), it's tough to do much. Hoping to get things done through the end of the year and maybe get the house on the market by at least early next year.

My mom can't do much, and I don't have the energy I used to, so it's going to take awhile. Keeps me offline more and I haven't been able to play much in the way of games. Can't wait to get into someplace smaller, and hopefully that will let me not have to spend all my time doing yardwork!  :o
